Embryo transfer in mice is a crucial technique for several applications such as generation of genetically modified rodents, revitalisation of cryopreserved strains and rederivation of contaminated strains. Recently, a new method for non-surgical embryo transfer (NSET) in mice was introduced. It eliminates the impact of anaesthesia and surgery on the embryo recipient potentially without reducing the success rate. We tested the practicality of this method as determined by pregnancy rate, number of pups born, and number of implantation sites in laboratory mice.
