Abstract:
An immobilisation trial using medetomidine-ketamine and in some cases further combined with hyaluronidase with subsequent atipamezole reversal, was carried out in a group of chamois(Rupicapra rupicapra). An average dosage of 0.061 mg/kg body weight medetomidine and 1.55 mg/kg body weight ketamine was applied. Reversal was carried out using atipamezole at 5 mg/mg medetomidine. Lateral recumbency was observed on average after 6.25 minutes. In all animals a very good plane of anaesthesia was achieved. Reversal by atipamezole was calm and rapid in all animals.
