Abstract:
Due to the modern diagnostic methods the consequences of the chronic renal failure (CRF) are well known and determinable. The necessary dietetic measures due to the reduced kidney function are briefly described and directives for dietary management in practice are given. Especially the dietary restriction of phosphorus, in case of uremia also of protein and in patients with systemic hypertension the restriction of sodium are recommended. Additionally, dietetic measures and drug therapy of other pathological changes frequently occurring in CRF like hypokalemia, metabolic acidosis and anemia are discussed.
