Abstract:
Exogenous influences on hair colour in dogs a survey of literature Besides some amino acids, trace elements, and vitamins that as nutritional influences may be of particular significance for the colour of the hair coat (see BUSCH-KSCHIEWAN et al. 2003), several exogenous, i.e. physical or chemical factors are, additionally, of interest in this connection. These may be characterized as influences of weathering (UV light, temperature, humidity), causing photo-yellowing and photo-bleaching, and can adhere to the hair surface as dye-stuff intensifying normal hair colour or causing equally bleaching to a certain extent, e. g. as ingredients of shampoos, drugs, and insecticides.
