Abstract:
Isospora suis is one of the most important pathogens causing neonatal diarrhoea in piglets. The parasite has been studied thorougly over the past decades, but its influence on and the interaction with the faecal flora of newborn piglets needs to be investigated further. The aim of the present study was to compare differences regarding the development of the faecal flora of newborn pigs which were not infected with I. suis and those which were infected and untreated or treated with toltrazuril.
