Abstract:
This case report describes the clinical findings and surgical excision of a large fibropapilloma on the right elbow region in a 3.5-year-old Simmental cow. The cow had been referred with the history of a neoplasm of two years duration showing a continuing enlargement. On the lateral aspect of the elbow a tumour nearly spheroid in shape, possibly having its origin in the skin, was diagnosed. This suspected neoplasm weighing 3.85 kg adhered to the subcutaneous tissue with a broad basis in an area of approximately 20 by 18 cm. Owing to its size it was pendulous in the standing cow. The surface of this growth reminded of papilloma-like nodules varying in size from chestnuts to chicken eggs with a carunculated surface. Surgical excision was performed under local anesthesia. Pathohistological examination was consistant with the suspected diagnosis of a neoplasm, the definitive diagnosis of a fibropapilloma was stated.
