Project(s): Rocuroniumbromid als Muskelrelaxans beim Pferd

In this experimental study 7 healthy horses were each anaesthetised three times on each occasion with a different dose of rocuronium (0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 mg/kg) in random order to study the pharmacodynamic characteristics of this neuromuscular blocking agent. The neuromuscular blockade was monitored with acceleromyography (TOF - Guard®). The r. zygomaticus of the auriculopalpebral nerv was stimulated and the accelerometer was positioned on the upper lip. The effekt of the musclerelaxant on heart rate, bloodpressure and recovery of anaesthesia were evaluated as well. There exists a close connection between dose and onset time, time of action and TOF 70 and 90%. There was no relation between dose and recovery index. When receiving 0.2 mg/kg rocuronium, only a partiel blockade was produced in all horses. Doses of 0.4 and 0.6 mg/kg produced complete neuromuscular blockade. There were no signifikant changes in heart rate or bloodpressure detected, although, shortly after injection of the drug, a trend of increased bloodpressure was observed. When recovery of neuromuscular blockade was sufficient, recovery of anaesthesia is uneventful.
