Project(s): Weight management and functional support of joint function in aged overweight dogs

In the last few years physical therapy, in animals has gained popularity and starts to establish in veterinary practice for rehabilitation and pain management of different musculosceletal disorders. In this article different therapeutical modalities for the additional treatment of osteoarthritis such as thermotherapy, therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation and massage as well as extracorporeal shockwave therapy are described on the basis of the presently available veterinary and human medical literature.
